Hubi: a local discovery app built in Paraguay

Hubi helps people find businesses and services nearby: explore places on the map, compare real reviews and, if you can't decide, let a random pick choose your next outing. It's DPR's own product, designed and built end to end by our team.

The challenge

In Paraguay, information about local businesses is scattered across social media, chat groups and incomplete map listings. Finding where to eat, what's open today or which service is nearby takes longer than it should.

Hubi's goal is to bring that information into one place, with a fast, visual experience that helps people decide in seconds.

What we built

Discovery home

Featured places, promotions and categories on a single screen.

Visual catalog

Browse by food or service type, built for quick decisions.

Place profile

Gallery, tags, opening hours and visits for every business in one place.

Real-time map

Hundreds of places clustered by area, with distance and category filters.

How we built it

We started with the experience: clickable prototypes to validate the core flow — open the app, see what's nearby, decide — before writing code. Then we built the mobile app, the web version and the backend that manages places, categories, reviews and geographic search.

The map was the biggest technical challenge: rendering hundreds of points smoothly on any phone, clustering them by zoom level and filtering by distance without lag.

Current status

Hubi is in active development in Paraguay, and the web version is available in beta at hubi.holadpr.com.
